"Comfortable B&B, perfect for an overnight stay"
We stayed at L’Arène Bordeaux for 1 night and although check-in was at 5pm the owners were able to accommodate our early arrival time of 3pm. The room was modern, fairly basic but cosy with a queen sized bed, safe (which we couldn't work out), tea & coffee making facilities and a small mini bar selection. Looking out the bedroom window we had a view of the roman ruins of palais gallien. We stayed on the 1st floor and our challenge was getting our large suit cases up the winding staircase as we had been travelling for a while. As we stayed on a weekend we were able to park on the street without any parking restrictions. If you were staying during the week I would arrange parking in advance. We opted for breakfast on check-in and it was pretty basic with croissants, cereal, fresh juice, tea and coffee and fresh home-made jams but enough to kick start your day. On the day of departure the owners were happy for us to leave our bags whilst we ventured into town which was a 10-15 minute walk.

"Fantastic Hotel"
One of the Best hotels we ever stayed at. Location is excellent just a short walk to major shopping district . Quality of the rooms exceeded are expectations . We always enjoyed staying at the Ritz or Four Seasons but our stay here was just as good if not better . Breakfast at the hotel is great and I would highly recommend . The best thing is the service which was just incredible . You could not ask for anything better . I would go back just to visit with the owner and staff as they were more than wonderful and treated you like family . We looked forward to returning to our hotel at night just to speak to the staff . Overall just an incredible experience and we are very grateful for the fabulous memories at this hotel . Looking forward to returning . John & Jane

"Great hotel in a good/OK location"
The Hotel burdigala is an excellent choice for Bordeaux. The duplex room we chose was very roomy and well equipped. Great espresso machine plus Two-story layout. Close to the tram, but if you take a cab/taxi anywhere it will cost you dearly. Opening taxi charge before you go anywhere is 12 Euro. Costs nearly 20 Euro to go 10 blocks. This is a big problem. Otherwise a high quality 5-star hotel.

"Great stopover hotel with good parking"
Only let down was the lack of choice for dinner and lunch in the hotel restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a Paul restaurant within 2 min walk...eat there.

"Excellent hotel close to tramway."
The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. We liked the convenience of the small kitchen, although a reasonably priced breakfast was available. The room was adequately comfortable for a few days stay.

We enjoyed the area but not a whole lot to see really. We live in Napa Valley, CA so didn't do any wine tasting and know that is big in Bordeaux. But we made the best of it. Bike riding and shopping.

"Reasonable place to stay"
The hotel caters really for the business market rather than the tourist and although very clean and tidy is somewhat bland with little character. However, the rooms were of a very good size with separate w.c. to the bathroom which I thought was a good idea. Very good widescreen TV also. The provision of paper cups, plastic glasses and two small milks for each room was not in keeping with a four star hotel and it struggled in my view to achieve four star standard overall. Nevertheless, it did its job for us and we had a pleasant stay. The reception staff were very pleasant but one gave me completely wrong information about the workings of the tram system . We did not take any meals at the hotel so cannot comment upon that aspect as we preferred to experience eating out in the town. If you want sandwiches or snacks there is a small Carrefour supermarket in the small street to the rear of the hotel. The hotel was situated a little out of the town centre but there was no problem in walking 15 minutes or so to it. There is a very efficient tram system with a stop less than one hundred meters away (it took us ages to work out how to get the ticket out of the ticket machine!!) I would suggest you make use of this great transport system. The hotel was situated about two hundred meters from the river bank and the walkway along it was very pleasant to walk along, both into the centre and away from town.
