“Absolutely Fantastic Resort”
We just returned from the St. James Club and had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic, the rooms were spacious and clean, the staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous. We’ve traveled to many resorts, but the St. James is unique with respect to the water options available (bay, ocean, pools). We had such a great time, we are going back next year and will definitely recommend this resort to our friends. It’s a 5 star resort!
“Wonderful Vacation at St James Club”
We read quite a few reviews before deciding to book with SJC, It was pretty well what we expected, Our room was right on the beach and larger than most hotel rooms, Not fancy, just clean & comfortable. both beaches were nice and we liked all of the resturants, not a big deal to make resevations ahead of time, staff was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely like to go back!!!!
“beautiful resort! great food, breathtaking views and lots of water sports for all!”
I wouldn't hesitate recommending the St. James Club resort to anyone if they don't mind staying on the southern tip of the island which is a good 45 minute ride to northern or western attractions. It is very close to Shirley Heights, Nelson's Dockyard and the Antigua Rainforest zip line. Jolly Harbour is a beautiful 45 minute ride, as well as St. John's or Dickenson Bay. The other thing to realize ahead of time is that the ocean water is a darker color than the other resort beaches. With that said, the St. James is an older resort but with many updates. That means that the landscaping is mature and gorgeous everywhere you look. The rooms are very comfortable and well-situated. We had a premium waterview room which was located in the Bouganvilla building. It was near everything we needed, such as main pool, 2 bars, lobby, restaurants and fitness center. No matter where you stay will have easy access to the bay and ocean beaches, it is a short walk to anything. They provide golf cart rides upon request, but you really don't need them unless you are staying in the villas, which looks like an amazing area. The villas are all tiered into the hillside overlooking the bay. The ocean front rooms are on Coco Beach and all have balconies to walk out to the beach. The beauty of the setting of the resort is just amazing being on a peninsula. Food at the restaurants-great. The selection was limited to 1 soup, 2 appetizers and 6 entrees, or buffet- but we loved it all.
“Incredibly Attentive and Friendly Staff”
The staff was friendly throughout our stay, but it was when we got into the taxi to leave we realized how attentive the staff was. We had grabbed a quick lunch at the Rainbow Garden, where I told our server we wished we could have stayed longer but had to rush off to the airport. While Vincent loaded our bags into the taxi, Lisa came running thru the lobby yelling we forgot a bag. Although Lisa was not our server, clearly our server was paying attention and had the presence of mind to rush the bag I left next to my chair out to the taxi. It had my phone, wallet, and my son's medicine. I can't thank the staff enough for a great vacation, great service, and a great save. We stayed in a beachfront room and the kids LOVED being 3 steps to a beautiful beach with a cool breeze and plenty of palm trees for shade (and climbing). The bathroom was HUGE with 2 sinks and wider than regular hotel rooms. We loved the beach buggy that brought drinks out on the beach. Oddly, that was the only place my kids could get real Sprite - the restaurants served something similar that was more like sparkling lemonade. I was very impressed when I saw a staffer one morning shovelling away kelp that was in the surf on the beach. They really keep the beach spotless. The bay had better seashells and the free watersports were fun, but it was hot, so we spent most of our time on the cooler beach. Plenty of food. Most was good, and some was great - especially the fish and soup. We loved the Marlin Alfredo!
“Could not have wished for a better honeymoon”
Good choice of 4 restaurants Right balance between staff being attentive but also giving privacy Wonderful to have the choice of 2 beaches Good sports facilities The service in the restaurants was hit and miss - much more laid back that European service but once you get into the caribbean laid-back mode, you relax and go with the flow. It does not need to have a negative effect on your holiday. Really good choice of tours on offer from hotel - staff manning tour desk knowledgable and able to give good advice for each trip. I can't wait to go back!
“A Great Vacation”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at St. James. The resort is beautiful and has 2 lovely beaches, plus 6 pools. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating -- if you need something, just ask and they will make it happen. The food was quite good, even the buffets, although the extra charge for dining at Picolo Mondo is definitely worth it -- I had grilled lobster there that was out of this world. We went in early May, and the guest population tended toward an older, quieter crowd. But, with some active recruiting and help from the water activities staff, we were able to scare up a daily beach volleyball game. The watersports were very good -- kayaks, Hobie cats, windsurfers and a nice, quiet bay to try them out in. Our only suggestions for improvement: (1) keep the bar at the main pool open later and hire bands to play out there in the evening; and (2) offer a wider variety of beer -- Red Stripe and Wadaldi got old after awhile. We didn't have the foresight to go on the catamaran snorkeling trip, but heard that it was awesome. We spent a half day at Nelson's Dockyard. It was ok, but not exactly enthralling.
“excellent spot to relax and take in the sun”
St James Club is an excellent spot for a self-contained caribbean holiday. It is situated next door to a beautiful bay and right on a typically unspoiled beach. The location is not so developed as other holiday areas in the caribbean; this aspect is underlined by the wonderful birdlife around the hotel.
“We would love to return within the next year or two.”
We were so impressed by the cheerful helpful staff. The overall maintenance & cleanliness was first class. It is the first hotel which we have stayed in where a duty manager walked round every day to ask if eveything was OK He also talked about general topics. I had read a very critical review before leaving and was a little concerned but there was no need as everything ws perfect.
“Wonderful Family Vacation!”
Just returned from the St. James' Club & Villas, for those who don't like reading a long review, let me say simply that this place is ideal for a family vacation. Not only was the resort absolutely gorgeous, with amazing views, great food, and friendly staff.....but there was tons to entertain both us and the kids. Great to have a resort with 6 separate pools, as well as 2 beaches, so that if you don't feel like going down to the sand or if one or two of your choices are crowded, there is always somewhere quite, where you can enjoy more secluded and romantic moments with your partner at the adult only pools. Also, it is nice to see that the hotel entertains us adults as well as the kids. So that while there was plenty of water-sports, tennis courts and organized events for our kids to enjoy in; we were well catered to with the gym, spa and nightly events at the Jacaranda Lounge! The food at the different restaurants on the resort are varied and very good. On top of this the staff was unbelievably friendly and really add to the experience of the Caribbean trip. Also, the price includes alcohol... All in all, we all had a wonderful time, and I have already promised the kids that we will be returning next year. I can not recommend the St. James' Club enough!
“Will go back”
My wife and I spent a week at the St. James and was very happy with our experience. The staff was very attentive and could not do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The facility is very well kept and easy to get around. The dining experience was very good. Our room was very comfortable. I would recommend the trip up to Shirley Heights on Sunday and a day trip around the Island.
