In need of a complete overhaul

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: the price. the beds were ok
Cons: the place needs to be completely remodeled.
Location: convenient to clemson
the hotel was pretty gross. the elevator barely worked; the check-in people decided that they would be "management" and they posted a sign that said "do not use." it did work but very slowly and noisily. the carpets were disgusting; we never took off our shoes or walked around in socks. the door handles all had a vasoline (we hope) type substance on them. the complimentary breakfast was ok but substandard. Overall it's probably better to stay at one of the places across the street.

Lots of potential, little substance.

Pros: Location and design.
Cons: Lots!
Location: Great location for my needs.
This was my third visit to this hotel and in spite of many drawbacks that would turn many visitors away, something keeps bringing me back. I love the location the design and I keep thinking somebody else will see the potential, purchase the facility and clean it up. Old and warn carpeting and wallpaper, poor drainage in the bathtub and inadequate and poorly located electrical outlets are common. I've had to request regular coffee on more than one occasion as they seem bent on decaffinating their guests. This weekend I arrived to two packages of decaf and a pot of old coffee. At first encounter this weekend, the staff was very accomodating. Due to my booking arrangement I was going to have to switch rooms from between Friday and Saturday. At check in, the desk clerk was able to make an adjustment and allow me to avoid the change of rooms. Or so she said. When I returned to my room on Saturday evening, I found all of my belongings in plastic bags. Apparently the clerk's intentions did not make there way into the reservation system and the system abruply ended my stay. I'll probably go another route for my next visit to Clemson and hope that somewhere down the line a company or investor with deep pockets will see the potential in this place and sink some needed funds into a renovation.

Got charged by expedia AND the hotel. Calls to the hotel have got me nowhere. Staff keeps claiming there are no managers on duty

Pros: The location and it's potential.
Cons: Needs to be completely renovated to meet its potential.
Location: I was there for Clemson activities and it was perfect!
I loved the location; met an interessting couple with deep, historical South Carolina roots; did not have regular coffee in my room on morning 2;

Nice, good area

Posted 30-Nov-2013
Pros: proximity, clean, nice staff
Cons: outside appearance, small renovations
Location: restaurants near by, Clemson Univ nearby
I could tell they were updating the hotel and working at it. Very pretty lobby & breakfast area, very neat that they have an indoor pool. Not the prettiest on the outside.

Horrible all around

Posted 29-Nov-2013 on Hotels.com
They have not renovated since what seems like the 1970's. The price of the stay is nowhere near the quality received. The hotel also charged my account a week later for some absurd, random amount and was very unsatisfactory in resolving the issue. Negligence of the staff and the unavailability of the manager, who is the only person with power to actually fix the situation, made for a poor stay. Needless to say, I will never stay in this hotel again.

Used to be nice

Posted 26-Nov-2013
Exterior looks rough. I was scared until I saw a lot of people entering. Was worried that it would be really dirty and smell. The front desk staff was very pleasant and professional. The lobby decor was dirty, dated and nebbish. The room was somewhat clean, bed spreads were dated but sheets looked clean to the naked eye and it smelled fine. Bathroom was clean but needed updating too. Rugs were dirty and I kept my shoes on. It appears that at one time this was a great hotel with and indoor pool with room balconies looking out over the pool. Now it seems as if a slum lord owns it. They desperately need Anthony melchiori from hotel impossible. I would only recommend this place to a friend if they had nowhere else to stay as was our case. Clemson had a home football game. :-(
