“Nice Hotel, but a little hard to find”
This is a brand-new hotel which opened in June '09. I stayed in July, and they were still tying up some loose ends, but everything was just fine. Their website says the tram stops in front of the hotel, but actually you have to walk around a long block and under the Ring road to get there. It is convenient to the rail station; in fact after I learned the lay of the land I walked to the station without using the tram, even with my suitcase on the last day. If you just wanted to go into Amsterdam, the tram was very convenient.
“No doubt - Stay here!!”
This was our first European trip. Everything was relied on internet reviews and maps. We took the wrong train from the airport. We were suppose to get off close to the hotel but instead went to Amsterdam Central. We were lost in there for a good hour trying to get back to the right route. We managed to find the tram (you can take the 1 or 17 to Surinameplein) and head towards the hotel. It was a good 5-10 min walk. We got to the hotel and we had to climb these long steps to get to the front door w/ our luggage. Very exhauting. We got to the hotel around noon so our rooms were not ready. Bummer. However, we sat by the bar and had lunch. Service and food was good and inviting. The hotel lobby was very nice. There was 2 computers you can use for free for your needs. You step outside to the garden area where you can sit and chill. You can see why they call it a Fashion Hotel. We were so tired and a bit irritated we just wanted our room. Finally, received the hotel key and the room was FABULOUS. It was WORTH the wait. The room key controlled the electricity. Very nifty. After a good long nap, we went to explore the city. The room was very comfortable w/ blackout curtains. We're glad that our hotel location was not within the busy city. We found a coffee shop, De, Prijs, across the street from our tram stop by our hotel. Good quality and service. Everything came to place. The hotel was the icing to the cake. This was the best trip ever!
“Brand new hotel - excellent!”
We booked this hotel because it was cheap and only openened in July 2009. We stay at the end of July. There were still a few teething problems, but all easily solved and staff helpful if we needed something. Great leisure facilities with a pool, steam room and saunas. Bar was good (but expensive as all hotels tend to be) and the Skybar was not yet open. The hotel was not in the centre (but halfway to airport). The tram stops about 7 minutes walk from the hotel at Suriname Plein and it is about 6 or 7 stops to the central area of Leidseplein. Trams are very frequent. We bought a 3 day pass with at the hotel reception for 15 Euro. The rooms were spacious, clean and brand new. The mini bar were not installed yet but hotel gave us a free drink in the bar to compensate. There was a safe, iron, tea/coffee making facilities and huge shower room. This hotel was great. Food expensive in hotel however. Around Suriname plein there were two nice cafes for reasonable breakfast or lunch, or just take the tram into town.
“Loved it!”
Parts of the hotel are still being built (I stayed there in September 2009). Not all the gymnasium equipment was ready, however the swimming pool and sauna were great. However, the building work did not affect the comfort of the rooms. Something to note is that there is a window and a glass door into the bathroom. This is very stylish but probably makes it more suitable for a couple staying there rather than just friends!! Overall I would love to stay there again and I was very impressed with the customer service of staff etc.
“great place that will only get better”
Stayed 6 nights here and it was great. 5 min walk to the tram and 10-15 mins to the Leidseplein, with another 10-15 to train station. Thoroughly modern being still built and only partially finished. We had it for a great rate due to this and pro bably wont be able to afford it by next year when completely finished. Only drawback was that they shut the downstairs elevator door at night forcing a walk up a large steep stairway, not for those with heavy luggage or mobility issues (arrive before 8 pm). Modern and american sized rooms in Amsterdam-awesome.
“Best Deal for Money”
The hotel was extremely accommodating! The front desk allowed a tired traveler to check in early after they verified a rooms were clean! They also handled arrangements for all my touring and evening plans. Rooms were very modern and BIG, especially for european standards!!! Bathroom was quite lavish!!! Price compared to Service, DEFIANTLY worth it!
“Great hotel”
Great Hotel, Easy to get to the airport and downtown. Would defintely stay there again
“Tram stop a short walk away”
The hotel itself is great but the nearest tram stop is a good 5 minutes away...not bad in good weather but not fun in the rain! still worth it IMO
“Excellent hotel - a bit off center”
We've stayed at the hotel on it's first month, it was excellent. It is a bit off center and from what we've gother, you better off taking a taxi or tram and not walk there at night. Highly recommended
“Ignore the bad reviews...”
Ignore the older bad reviews. This hotel is almost finished now and we were not disturbed by any of the work that was still going on, even though this was our honeymoon and we spent a lot of time in the room! The hotel is already amazing. When it is finished it will be awesome. We will definately be returning when the SKY bar is open to sample some more wonderful mojitos! x
