“a nice (and cheap) to stay in Amsterdam”

The Hostel is great but a little impersonal. We enjoyed our stay overall, it was good value for money and the room was nice. It isn't really a hotel or hostel, it is an apartment with rooms to rent so the atmosphere is different to other places, but this isn't a bad thing and it feels more relaxed. The ferry to the centre is free and easy to use so the distance wasn't a problem and it was nice to see another part of the city. There is a supermarket very close as well which is very helpful.
