“Great apartment hotel if you are prepared/able to walk up and down many steps”

This hotel is a bit unconventional. The space is great and is the equivalent of renting a full apartment. Our apartment had a great view and the location is close to the red light district and very close to the Central Station so this is accessible to everywhere in Amsterdam. Since you are renting an apartment, there is no front desk and you'll need to call the representative on the telephone when you arrive so that he can meet you with keys. This may be a problem if you don't have an international phone. The entrance is on one of the very small side streets that cars cannot come down, so be prepared to carry your bag for a block or so depending on where you are let out. The major issue is the number of steep stairs once you enter the building. There are no elevators so be prepared to lift your bag for approximately 5 flights of stairs. The pathway to the actual apartment will include a few sets of stairs plus a short walk outside (very difficult to explain). However, I still feel as though it’s a great place to stay. Just be sure to only pack what you can carry and it's in your interest to keep some snacks in the apartment, since once you come in for the night, the trek back out will be a deterrent- trust me. If you have any mobility issues, this place should not be considered, otherwise, sign up immediately.

“Great for young groups looking for good value and central location”

Just returned from a 3 night weekend break in Amsterdam staying at the Damrak Apartments. There were 4 girls in our group and we had a great time. We did have problems getting hold of someone on the number provided and found we couldn't check-in until after 2pm (we had got a flight from UK at 6.05am). Apartment was 5 mins walk from central train station just off the Damrak, an excellant central location. From there we walked all over to visit sites . We didn't use the trams but they seem to go everywhere (just be very careful at crossings). Apartment was very big for what we paid with comfortable but basic furniture. We were in 5B which had 2 floors with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 1 seperate toilet on the top. One bedroom had 2 singles the other had a bunkbed (suitable for adults). The bunkbed squeeks with every move! The bottom bunk did not have a very good mattress and was hard. The lounge area had very comfortable seating. A TV is provided but only got 3 local TV channels and local radio stations (nothing in English). Despite the negatives it was a great base for our stay and we did chill out in the apartment in the evening. The access to the apartment from the street is via a steep indoor staircase, and external metal walkway which is not lit at night . Average kitchen facilities but no corkscrew! I would only recommend this apartment complex to young adult groups who won't mind the bar/street noise from outside and looking for a good value base.

“damrak hotel appartement”

âppartement idéalement situé à côté de la gare. Spacieux pour 4 et propre. Un peu juste en équipement de cuisine (pas de torchon à vaissell). Un peu galère pour récupérer les clefs. Si vous venez en voiture le parking à côté est à 55 euros les 24h00, il faut donc prévoir de décharger et aller se garer en périphérie pour un long séjour.
