What a surprise! An airport hotel with character. Also efficient and highly functional. There's much for other hotels to learn from CitizenM

“Would use again”

Wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised at the concept; excellent room facilities. Hotel is a 3-400 yards walk from the airport, and an 8 euro return train ticket gets you into Central Amsterdam. Would definitley use the hotel again.

The citizenM is just so visually appealing with an excellent, knowledgable staff who are more than willing to make your stay the best it can be. I enjoyed the very very comfortable bed and the modern furnishings. I'm 23 and in graduate school so the citizenM was just my cup of tea, however, I know that the citizenM would not be the hotel Of choice for my middle aged parents or a family trip. The location of the citizenM was great, I was able to take a short trip ride to Amsterdam centraal and be in the city within 15-20 mins plus because the airport is so close, I was able to access the vvv very easily and had numerous choices for food and drinks. When I return to Amsterdam, I may chose to stay at the citizenM downtown because ansterdam centraal shuts down at midnight and a cab is € 50 but for my short 1 and a half day trip the airport citizenM was jus perfect.

“Excellent -- but probably only for singles”

I was truly happy with this place. I often stay at the Sheraton for convenience, but this is only 3 minutes farther -- leave the airport on the arrivals level and turn right. The room is really pretty cool. Love the TV and you can change the lighting theme in the room. The bed gave me the best night's sleep for weeks. The internet is free, but perhaps not specially fast, I guess everyone's using it. The room is a little different. It's small and compact as I expect a Japanese hotel might be. The toilet and shower are "in the room" -- actually they are inside wrap-around frosted glass cylinders -- and although the latter is fine by me I think I'd feel funny in the former sharing with anyone. The price is amazing. I've already reserved my next night at the hotel. (I would like to invest in this chain, but I think it's privately held.)

It's great. Unusual but really good. If there's two of you in a room make sure you're *really* good friends ;-) Definitely recommended for the traveller

CitizenM Amsterdam is a hip, modern and innovative hotel. My only hope would have been to have more time to enjoy it!

“A great layover spot at Schiphol”

I stayed at this hotel twice during my 4-day trip to The Netherlands: the night I arrived and the night before I left. I usually stay at the Sheraton but find it worn down and over-priced. I will go back to the CitizenM. It was easy, unique and a good value. The rooms are small but cozy and relatively quiet given the location of the hotel. I like the modern 'automated' theme and appreciated the ease of checking in and out. The walk from Schiphol is less than 5 minutes under a covered and lit walkway.

“Future meets Present”

I read all the reviews before booking the CitizenM. There are not that many choices at Schiphol airport ... and I'd already stayed overnight there before at the Hilton. The Citizen is perfect for a long day layover or early flight out. All the room gadgets could be a bit intimidating, but I'm sure if you ask at Reception they would have explained anything you need. Some of the reviews made it seem like it was staffed by robots ... not so. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke loads of languages. The only main thing I was unhappy about was booking the breakfast option at check-in. It's a good option if you are in a hurry and want to take it away since it comes already pre-made. Otherwise, it's a better value to buy some items a la carte (coffee, croissant, fruit salad, etc.). I'll gladly book it again for my next overnight at Schiphol.
