“great value with a very walm welcome.”
good location, friendly helpfull staff who made us feel welcome on arrival, clean and tidy room, good value... cant fault it!...would definately stay there again... due to it being an over night stay with an early morning flight the next day we did not sample the free breakfast offered to us which was a pitty due to its good reviews.
“Great stay”
Good hotel. Fab location and helpful staff. Free breakfast on 1st morning was nice touch. Only problem we had was no hot water one day - but a plumber was called and it was quickly fixed. We were also pleased to have a canal view room, though we hadn't paid for one.
“would use again definately”
We found our room to be small but clean. The room had a lovely view and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very small but it was clean and the shower was nice and powerful. Tea and coffee facilitites were provided and topped up daily. We felt the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was close enough to the centre without being too noisy. The train station was close enough to walk to. There were plenty of eating places close by. We only had breakfast once in the hotel as we wanted to try different things every morning, but the one breakfast that we did have was very good and enjoyable. My husband liked cooking his own eggs for breakfast and adding bacon etc to them as he wanted. Plenty of food provided, yoghurt, cereal, cheese, rolls etc. We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel and would use it again. We would also recommend it to our friends. We had no real expectations of the hotel but found it to be more than adequate for us. When we were looking for hotels we wanted a place to stay that had character and was not just another modern block, all units the same. This hotel had plenty of character from the curving stairs to the old lift (which I loved, it was quaint). For us personally it was what we wanted.
“A friendly and well located local hotel”
This is a great hotel if you're on a budget but looking for somewhere that is located in central Amsterdam. All the top attractions are within 15 minutes walk and it's about 20 minutes walk from the central station where you can easily get to the airport. The people who run this place are really friendly and will bend over backwards to help you out. The rooms are very basic, but comfortable and clean. There's free internet at the hotel and you can borrow DVDs to watch on your room's free DVD player if it's a rainy day or you're recovering from a hangover! If you're used to staying in big international chain hotels then this may not be the place for you- but if you like a more intimate local run hotel then this is the place you've been looking for! If I went again I'd pay the 15euros extra to have a canal view room as there's not much natural light at the back. I will definately return.
“Great hotel, made to feel very welcome on our first trip to Amsterdam.”
We chose this hotel as it was one of the cheaper places which had all the amenities we required for a 5 night stay in Amsterdam. Having not been to Amsterdam before we didn't know what to expect, and we arrived late in the evening due to a delayed flight. However we found the hotel very easily, no more than a fifteen minute walk from the station, and we were made to feel very welcome by the host. The room was small but cosy and had all the facilities you would need (clean bathroom, tea/coffee facilities, tv etc) and we were close to all the local attractions. We didn't have to catch a single tram our whole time there, everywhere was walkable. The manager offered us a free breakfast which was delicious, and we had another on our last day. Breakfast was served until 12 so allowed for a lie in! We will definitely go back next time we visit Amsterdam, can't wait!!!
“Cozy, Friendly Place”
We enjoyed our stay here. Great location, VERY friendly and helpful welcome from staff. Wonderful breakfast with friendly service. The bathroom tiles could use a little bleach and the bed linens were clean but had some tears in them. Overall this was a great place to stay. The kitty, Moreno, was a nice treat as we were missing our fur-babies at home. Cuddly and playful, but very well behaved.
“Charming little fun find”
I was in Amsterdam for one night, and we arrived at the hotel a bit early. the receptionist gave me a very warm welcome and bent over backwards to give me all the information I needed and made me feel very at home. the room was very charming and kind of rustic and romantic, with a beautiful view over the canal. It was on a quiet street by the canal, but very close to all the amenities. they were very accomodating. Breakfast was also very nice and relaxed, we could cook our own eggs. Definitely recommended for a romantic getaway. Would definitely like to go back.
“Dutch relatives hosting on the Amstel”
This little, folksy hotel overlooking the Amstel and at the comfortable periphery of Centrum is my home on Amsterdam. Welcomed by a staff member who knows me by name, I walk one minute from Rembrandtplein's tram stop, fresh from Schipol, and enjoy eggs I scramble myself in the living/dining area, before a (usually) misty stroll one block to the Spui, or the flowermarket, or shopping on the Leidesplein. This place is as comfortable as your own living room: nothing at all fancy, not suited to extravagant tastes, but comfortable and central and functional.
“Great hotel”
I looked at many reviews and this hotel came out the best. I was not disappointed. The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The room I had was not huge but perfectly adequate. The only comment I would make is that it could do with a spruce up.

Canal Ring, Amsterdam, Netherlands: The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic muchphotographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.
