“Perfect Break”
Never having been to mainland Spain before I was delighted with our choice of venue and hotel. The weather was lovely; not too hot (mid 70ties) and with a refreshing breeze. The hotel was quiet as I don't think they open pool bars etc. until June and we were there at the end of May. For a peaceful break, sitting by the pool and reading, it was perfect. However if you want more action this may not be the hotel for you. Altea is beautiful and the old town is well worth visiting in the evenings but it is a 12 euro taxi fare. The sea promenade is great during the day with lots of good places to eat and drink. You may wish to hire a car to get out and about as there seems to be plenty of parking at the hotel. Expensive taxi transfer from airport would also make a car a good option. The food was excellent although you are slightly limited if you stay at the hotel. The staff were great! Very friendly and helpful. The room was fantastic and the option to have breakfast served in your room was excellent altho we didn't take advantage of it. We didn't use our balcony which just about had the sea view promised, as it overlooked quite a busy road and was quite noisy. However the child free pool was lovely and we had it completely to ourselves!!! Not sure how crowded it might be in high season?!!Would definitely return!!
“Altea - a gem on the Costa Blanca!”
I read a review on nearby Benidorm that mentioned it had more 1000 bars. Immediately I looked a little further down the Costa Blanca and found refreshing Altea. This quiet town had excellent shopping, restaurants, and gorgeous exploring. And this resort had everything I wanted: spacious rooms, a beautiful pool, workout facilities, world-class spa, and a great breakfast!
“Luxurious”
The Hotel is up in the hills surrounded by superior villas/apartments The hotel itself is unobtrusive and in fact blends in well with the surrounding area. We were immediately upgraded from a standard double to a junior suite. This was more like an apartment which consisted of a bedroom, dining room/lounge and kitchenette. The bathroom had his/her basins, bath & shower. Toiletries were provided as were dressing gown & slippers. Each night chocolates were laid on our pillows. The towels and linen were also changed everyday. The room was kept spotless. Breakfast was plentiful and you could eat as much as you like. A variety of choice's. We ate in the restaurant on our first night. This was quite pricey but ok. We went out each evening from then on. Limited & disappointing activities/facilities but we did go in March. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool, when I did venture into the water it was actually very tepid/cool , I also had to buy a swimming cap. You cannot swim without one! There are 5 outside pools but it was too cold to swim! Attached to the hotel is a spa and treatment rooms. As the weather was poor we took advantage of these (similar prices as England) they were bliss. The only downside was the weather. We arrived on the Saturday to glorious sun, Sunday this changed and from there on it rained. The roads flooded, palm trees fell due to high winds . We caught an earlier flight home because of this. Would recommend this Hotel & Altea.
“Lovely hotel in the altea hills”
Superb service Lovely location Great facilities I will go back
“Bel hotel....”
“Enjoyed, but...”
First time away from the beach and without a car you would be marooned. You cant walk to the beach from here. Overall a nice place to stay, though having said that didnt have that something to make me go back
