Year-round, children enjoy complimentary supervised activities on a rubberized play area. The hotel offers 357 guestrooms and extra-spacious suites in a 12-story building. Each room has a desk, and contemporary decor includes pale-yellow walls. Dining
A buffet breakfast is provided each morning in Myrtilis restaurant.
Versátil Restaurant - Cane chairs, wood ceiling. Buffet dinner or a la carte selections nightly. In addition, buffet barbecue with stage show three times weekly in outdoor plaza.
Euforia Bar - Spacious bar/lounge and coffee shop serving soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, omelets for lunch and dinner, with additional Portuguese menu for dinner.
Pool Bar - Fort-like pool bar with rooftop sunning terrace open in summer.
Recreation
A 23-meter-long (75-foot) freeform family pool and a 14-meter (45-foot) kidney-shaped children's pool are arrayed in front of the hotel. Inside, a spacious health club (surcharge) features a curved, 23-meter (75-foot) heated pool with windows looking into the outdoor pool.
Two beaches extend along the Atlantic Ocean fronting Vilamoura and are separated by a marina, which is 300 meters (328 yards) from the hotel. Both are approximately 100 meters (109 yards) deep and accessible by boardwalks that protect natural vegetation. Nearest is one-km-long (0.75-mile) Marina Beach, which is across a parking lot from the hotel. Falésia Beach is 9 km (5.5 miles) long and one km (0.75 mile) away. In summer, personal watercraft, kayaks, and windsurfers can be rented from independent operators on the beaches.
The hotel offers two lighted artificial-grass tennis courts (surcharges) and a putting green.
Complimentary shuttle service is provided to all four golf courses located within the 5,000-acre Vilamoura resort development and to another course, Vila Sol. Other recreational facilities within Vilamoura include a sports complex, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a tennis center, a lawn-bowling green, and jogging, hiking, and bicycle trails.

“Will probably go back.”
The hotel is in a good position, on the beach but very convenient for the marina and all other attractions. Friendly staff and excellent spa facilities.
“Good location”
Nice and clean, very relaxed. Greatlocation,lots of nice resturants near by.
“New Year”
Stayed here for New Year for 4 nights. Unfortunately we were unable to go to the hotels New Years Eve party as it was fully booked, but it looked lovely although quite expensive. We would book this or one of their other hotels in the future.
“Excellent location”
The location, right on the beach and marina, lots of restaurants and things to do, take a boat trip, rocks & caves 15 euro each for 3 hours well worth it. would stay here again
“Will be Going Back!”
This was our 2nd visit and it was as good as always. Would definitely book this hotel again.
“I would not hesitate to use the Vila Gale Ampalius again when we revisit Vilamoura.”
We found the Ampalius ideally situated for both beach and Vilamoura town facilities. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Although we stayed on B & B basis only we found this more than adequate. We also noted that the evening meals were competitive with what Vilamoura has to offer.
“Value for money hotel”
Ideal spot for a beach holiday and and only 5 minutes walk to the marina. The fact that there were a lot of golfers at the hotel was not a problem. Note it is cheaper to eat in the hotel but there are many good restaurants around the marina.Walking along the beach AWAY from the marina,don't be put off by the "run down area and the small fishing harbour" carry on and lo and behold you are in Quatiera in less than 15 minutes.This has a long promenade and lovely beach.
“Great hotel”
This is a really nice hotel. It is actually hard to fault. Our suite was on 2 floors with 2 balconies overlooking the marina with views of the beach and the sea. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the marina which has loads of places to drink and eat. Casino is also 5 minutes walk away. Breakfast is extensive. Pool is lovely with bar alongside. Prices everywhere very reasonable. Ideal family hotel - we'll definitely be going back!
“A very nice stay”
Other than the construction in the rooms next to ours, it is a very nice hotel. It is right on the beach and next to the marina. The dinner buffet was not worth 25 Euros and didn't have many choices to eat. Room service was good and the jr suite was nice. The bathtub is rather small (I am 5'0 and couldn't stretch out) but always had hot water. I would give it a 4 1/2 stars rating.
“excellent location”
This was my 3rd trip to this hotel and that speaks for itself. It is right beside the marina without being to close. The hotel is clean with a great team of staff to cater for your every whim. The bar service can be a bit slow in busier periods but on the basis i had nothing better to do,waiting for a couple of minutes was fine. I was slightly upset to find out that the indoor pool/sauna facilities now charge for their use ( nobody told me ) but i would reccomend this hotel to singles and families
