“Wonderful Hotel in great location 25m from beach.”

We fully recommend the hotel to all couples wishing for a great holiday in Portugal. Stayed for only 3 nights but wished for more. Go for the sea view, worth the extra. as the Hotel is 25M from good sandy beach with plenty of sunshades. Breakfast was good and voucher given for discount for lunch and dinner (All buffet style). Pool was warm and inviting. Quarteria is a good sized town and with good services to other parts of the Algarve, Villamora is within walking distance. Hotel and location may be not so good for families only because you need to take extra care of younger children with the sea currents and waves which can be stronger than you may be used to. Eating was fine with many good Resturants nearby and also Supermarket not far away. Food and drinks relatively cheap compared to UK. Mainly local tourist in the Hotel, very few Brits (thank goodness). Flights from Southampton made for an easy trip, so well recommended. Overall we are considering a return visit next year!

“A fantastic location for a family vacation, right on the beach!”

You have everything that you could possibly need! Walk out to the beach, great restaurants, little shops! The hotel has a variety of rooms. I was really pleased with my room purchased on Expedia! The hotel has the amenities, good staff and is very clean! If you are looking for a safe place to vacation with your family on the Algarve this is it!

“Great hotel, excellent location”

This hotel is located in a fantastic area, right across from the beach and close to everything you need. The hotel has been refurbished so no need to worry about the older reviews stating the hotel is a little dated. Breakfast was perfect and I didn't see any problem with the variety available. I would state however that you might ask to have a room located away from the lift. It can get quite noisy and the room we were in didn't seem to be sound proofed from the corridor. Also in some of the pictures of the hotel it shows sun lounges and umbrellas out the front. These are only available from June - August which was disappointing. Luckily there were some located further along the beach (you did have to pay for these though). There was also entertainment in the hotel each night which was quite good. I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel.

“Excellent hotel and excellent location”

Very nice hotel, very well located; staff was pleasant and ready to help with any request! Parking was not included but we obtained one paying an extra 8 euros per day. Internet is the only problem...it worked fast during the day and very slow during the evening and night (internet costs 10 euros per 24 hours of usage). Breakfast was good with almost same choices every day; however very well served! I really enjoyed our time at Dom Jose Hotel Beach and if I ever return to the Algarve this hotel will be my first choice! Thanks to all staff at Dom Jose Hotel in Quarteira!

“Stay at the Dom Jose, you wont be disappointed!”

We chose the hotel for a friends weekend away and were delighted with our choice. Having read previous reviews we were sure that the hotel would be ok and were not let down. It was clean and well presented and the staff were really helpful and pleasant. Great value for money and we would have no hesitation in returning. Ideally situated by the beach, near to the bus station and taxi rank and with great local bars and restaurants near by. Perfect for a long weekend away.

“Good Hotel”

Good clean, well maintained, friendly hotel in lovely position overlooking the sea. No tea/coffee facilities in the room which was a bit disappointing. Quarteira is a bit quiet in October, but is a lovely clean well maintained resort well placed to visit other resorts in the Algarve.

“Weekend Break”

Hotel was great! After picking up the car at the airport we arrived at the hotel at 1am on sat morning thinking it would be closed. Reception was open and friendly staff were waiting with all details. Initially was a little dissapointed that the room did not have a balcony. The website does tell you that all rooms have a balcony. They dont, only the ocean facing side. It didn't matter as there was a large window you could hang out. The room was imaculate and new. The beds were twin singles but could be pushed together for a couple. Although, were quite hard and sqeaky! Breakfast is served in a bright sunny room overlooking the sea and pool. Awesome food and healthy too! We were a younger couple, 27 and 30 and everyone else was quite old staying there. This probably meant this was one of the best places you could find in Quarteria! Night life was found at the hotel and catered for the oldies but you could still have fun! Make sure you hire a car because public transport is limited. You will need this to access some of the secluded beaches which can be found around Albuferia. The beach as Dom Jose was nice but there were much better ones around. I recommend this hotel for it's cleanliness, trendyness, friendlyness and location. Not to mention fun for the oldies and children.

“Very pleasant week's stay in Feb 2012”

While the hotel looks a bit tired from the outside, the facilities on the inside of the hotel were very good. We found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly, and also very knowledgeable when it came to recommending things to do in the area. The buffet breakfast included in the price of the hotel booking was also a bonus. While it wasn't 5-star cuisine, it was definitely more than adequate and a good way to start each day. Location also ideal as right on the beachfront. Great views along the coast from balconies if you have a seaside-facing room as well. Very good value for money. We were there for 6 nights at the end of Feb-beginning of March which meant the surrounding area was pretty dead; many restaurants etc were closed for the winter. Good for a quiet relaxing stay, but sometimes we felt there was not much to do in the area after the first couple of days. We hired a car for 3 days which the front desk organised for us which I would recommend if visiting as we were able to see far more of the Algarve than we would have been otherwise able to, and it certainly was an experience driving on the Portuguese roads! All in all, very satisfied with the hotel and we would definitely stay there again if we were visiting the Algarve region. Value for money, staff service and general hotel atmosphere were the main highlights for us.
