Gets the Job Done

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: Centrally located. Located on the main drag through town. Plenty of places for food, gas and shopping.
Cons: The overall decor is on the tired side. But, I prefer the value pricing over an upgrade to hallway carpet and fixtures.
I found that this hotel was significantly cheaper than the newer Holiday Inn Express and Best Western nearby. I fully recommend this hotel if you get it at a value price. It is 5 minutes or less from the expressway and the regional mall and an easy 10 minute drive down one street to get to the downtown Albany/State Capitol area. And the hotel is located in a safe area of town. The hotel is more of a working man's hotel in terms of appearance. If you want to impress out of town guests or yourself, then this hotel might not be for you. But it hit all the important items on my list: value, strong shower without the pretense of a tub combo, and located next to the interstate and a safe area.

Son visiting Albany to see if he will attend.

Posted 28-Oct-2014
Pros: Distance to University of Albany, plenty of restaurants within close distance.
Cons: Could be updated, absolute cleaniness if I were to bring my wife!!
Very comfortable, basic room. No noise around, very quiet at night. Directly across from the University of Albany fields, walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and shopping around. Very good price and clean.

Hotel staff saves the day

The hotel is old and needs upgrades. The lower level rooms smell like mildew. Thankfully the wonderful staff moved me to the upper floor. The continental breakfast was lacking.

Checked in and immediately checked out. The smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. Very old and dirty.

The hotel served it's purpose (visiting U Albany), but it is old and somewhat run down. But it was convenient and cost effective :)

Your average Days Inn

Posted 26-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Just what you expect from a Days Inn. Reasonably priced place to stay, no frills, clean. A bit of a problem at check-in as the clerk couldn't figure out how to add a pet charge but they were very friendly and courteous. Main complaint: The breakfast was utterly unimpressive. Just some sliced bread, a couple of cereal options, yogurts. At least bagels, danish, or muffins would have been nice.

Overall, it was fine stay. The general hotel is a little worn and could use some updating, but the room was clean and had 2 queen size beds, which I couldn't get at some of the pricier hotels in the area. If you're picky, don't stay here; otherwise it should be fine. We would stay here again.

Pros: Once in the room, beds were clean and comfortable.
Cons: Better lighting in entry and hall. Fresh coat of paint and all carpeting replaced or at least very well cleaned.
Location: Conveniently located on Route 20 and fairly close to the freeway.
Room itself was not great but OK. But the halls had an odor and were dark and not clean. Would not be surprised if room rentals were by the hour! Hotel rating was deceptively high.
