“stay and enjoy”
Great location, if you want you can walk to most attractions in the CBD. To eat just step out the door as you have KFC,Subway,McDonalds and others all within 1 block. The room we stayed in was not fancy but very clean and for the location the price is a steal.
“Excellent Location”
Quiet for a downtown hotel; comfortable. Carpet, especially in common areas, needs replacement. Close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife. Reasonable value.
“Friendly Staff”
The Adelaide Paringa is not fancy, but it's great value for the price. The location is perfect, very close to Rundle Street and its many shops and restaurants. What impressed me most was the staff. They were very helpful in letting me check in early and stowing my bags as needed. They seemed genuinely concerned in making sure that I had a pleasant stay.
“Not sure if I would go back.”
The reception staff were very nice and eficient. When we walked into our room it appeared very basic but clean. The beds need replacing because of wear on the springs. I was glad it was winter because the air conditioner in our room was totally broken and needs to be replaced. On the day we arrived we didn't have any shampoo, conditioner or soap in the bathroom. This was rectified on day 2.
“Good location, value for money.”
The hotel was located in a busy area, surrounded by pubs, food outlets and restaurants. Street was busy and a little seedy with many weekend revellers around, but never felt threatening as 24hr police station located across the road. Central location, clean comfortable room and flat screen TV were very welcome. Price was good, staff were friendly and reception when manned was efficient and helpful.
“Oldie but a goodie is you are a heavy sleeper.”
The hotel was older but very comfortable and extremely roomy. The noise from outside at night, however, was disturbing. There was no way to stop the yahooing etc from waking you. First night was the worst and then we started to get used to it. The staff are excellent and helpful.
“Nice Hotel for the Money”
Considering the low price you pay to stay here, this hotel is actually quite a good value. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel itself is perfectly nice (if rather spartan.) I think the best thing about the hotel was the staff - without exception, everyone I dealt with at the hotel was friendly, conscientious, and very, very helpful. The location of the hotel, however is rather a mixed bag. On the one hand, it's very centrally located - downtown Adelaide is a convenient, short walk away, and it's only about 15 minutes away from the airport by shuttle or taxi, On the other hand, it's on a street which is pretty notorious for its partying. The weeknights I was at the hotel, this was fine, but on the Friday and Saturday nights I was there, there was really loud partying going on until 5 in the morning. So if you're traveling on a weekend, and sleep is a priority, I'd recommend staying in another neighborhood - but nonetheless, the hotel itself was very nice, and overall I'd recommend it!
“Super convenient”
The neighborhood is a little "racy" with "pokies" and "girls girls girls" lining Hindley Street, but it's very convenient to the cultural/government institutions and botanical gardens. The rooms were better than basic, clean, good size. A bit noisy late at night due to pub proximity, but quite nice overall. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's tucked a bit anonymously into an alley and the lobby is very modest, but it was definitely a good deal and we enjoyed both nights we spent there.
“Hotel Paringa”
The hotel is quite old and the rooms are in need of a big upgrade or refurb, the spa bath was old worn and very scracthed. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful which made the hotel a lot better, the bed was hard and lumpy, not very comfortable at all
“Cheap and (relatively) cheerful”
Given the low price, we weren't expecting much from this hotel. And it delivered (although not necessarily a bad way). We stayed one night and it was pleasant enough. The room was simple but comfortable. The hotel has had limited rennovations (new tiles in the bathroom, etc) but the room still felt like it was 1982. The pillows appeared to have been in use since 1982 (very flat) and there is only one additional pillow provided per room. However, the room was light and airy, with a new flat screen TV with a good range of channels (no movie channels though). The hotel was a noisy - a combination of street noise (it was Saturday night), rattling water pipes when the people above us used their bathroom and the staff vacuuming in a nearby room before 9am on a Sunday. The bed was comfortable enough that the noise didn't overly disturb me. Parking cost extra - $15 per night bought us secure parking at the sister hotel across the road. Location is amazing - nearby to Rundle Mall and walking distance from many of Adelaide's sights. Overall, the hotel was cheap and cheerful. If I was in Adelaide on a budget again, I would definitely consider this hotel for a second stay.
