We debated about renting a villa higher up the town but, decided to go with the Covo. Boy, are we glad we did! The Covo has the best location in Positano for getting around combined with an amazing view. The hotel is classically Mediterranean and the food is excellent (best pizza we had in Italy).

Lots has been written about this hotel. It is all correct. The hotel had arranged for our pick up at Amalfi harbour at 03.00am after we left a party in Capri still at full swing, and we were whisked straight up to the Rosa Suite which is split on 22 levels and overlooks the beautiful blue sea. Nothing was missing, and the staff had even laid out a late night supper of Italian delicacies to welcome us. We only spent 2 nights and lazed by the pool most of the time, but we were definitely looked after as well as anywhere in the world. We ate at the lovely restaurant and watched the full moon reflect in the water far below. All-in-all it is an old world version of the Burj Al Arab (and without the gold and glitz) and definitely a place we will return to one day.

There is no signage for the hotel and the access driveway is hairy to say the least. Once there, ditch the car. Restaurant on site is expensive and short on choice. Eat at the hotel next door for good food, extensive menu and reasonable prices. Access to the sea is by a couple of hundred steps and no beach.

My wife and I stayed in the hotel with our baby son. The hotel is impeccable - it's perched high above the Mediterranean with amazing views of the water and the City of Amalfi. The room was spacious and very well maintained, we used room service a lot - the dinner on balcony is amazing.

Excellent hotel and the staff were always friendly and ready to help. Food in the hotel was great too. Only disappointment was our air con stopped working one night and they were unable to reset it from their computer system until the next day.

We had a very nice stay in the hotel from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the lovely receptionist was also our bell woman and helped us with all our needs. Nice personality and gave us good info about the local area. When walking into our room (30) the windows open out to a balcony with the most amazing view, romantic and awe inspiring. Not many places in the world can compete with that view of the sea and the town. All the mod-cons such as excellent wifi and air con (although I have to say the aircon wasn't working in the room at the time), Sky TV (although very limited with the channels). Good size bath and rain shower, Bidet.
November is the beginning of the quiet season, so the town and the hotel is very quiet, very limited service when it came to food and drink, the bar was open and served by the receptionist. The restaurant was closed for the winter months so you will need to eat out. The is a nice breakfast buffet which was included in the price.
This Hotel is at the top of the hill and you can catch a local bus which will take you down to the town ( you have to walk a little way more from the bus stop to get to the beach). You can also walk down an abundance of stairs but walking back up is not for the faint hearted, the same bus will take you back up. You can get a discounted ticket for the bus from the local shops or you can just buy a ticket on the bus, its a couple of euro's, so it won't break the bank either way.

The Palumbo Hotel is an enchanting masterpiece. Every minute is a feast for the senses. The decor was superb and the staff was very accommodating.
It is in a very good location, and there is a charming little cafe next door.
