"A Great Jumping Off Point For Machu Picchu"
The view is spectacular and the rates are great. Although this hotel is not in the tourist-laden city center, that's part of its allure. Our room was generous in size and clean. The taxi ride from the airport took 15 minutes each way. The taxi ride to Poroy station (for the Machu Picchu train) was about 30 minutes each way. Walking to the Plaza de Armas is completely within reason. It's hardly a chamber of commerce stroll, but it's a true feel for the city. Otherwise, I'm sure a taxi ride would be inexpensive and quick. Should we return the Inca's mysterious ruins, we'll definitely consider the Wyndham again!

Pocket Guide: Cusco Cusco 4 stars Business Hotels

The Old and the New World intersect in Cusco: This fair city was remade in the image of Spain after conquistadors crushed the Inca in the 1500s. This colonial heritage is most evident at the Plaza de Armas, home to three baroque churches. To see the vestiges of the Incas, pass through the bohemian enclave of San Blas in the hills above central Cusco, and head north to the Sacsayhuaman fortress.
