"Living history!"
Other reviewers claimed that the main road outside was very noisy. Personally, we didn't find this an issue at all and enjoyed our stay very much. The Hotel is an ancient jewel so please accept the fact that you won't have vast or modern "loft like" rooms. The Feathers doesn't claim to be anything other than what it is - steeped in history and that's why we chose it and loved it!

"Comfortable hotel in lovely village"
Our visit was spoilt by the hot water running out after two showers. It never returned and we only got a discount after we requested one.

"Visit to Hawkstone Park Follies"
Perfect hotel to visit above attraction. We had a basic double room which was roomy and light with one of the most comfortable beds in any hotel we have stayed in. Staff always helpful and friendly. Breakfast plentiful and good choices. We only ate dinner on one of the 3 nights we stayed and that was room service, all good. Lots of people staying for the golf and everyone we met was very sociable and fun - no cliquey golf types! For either the golf or The Follies, a great place to stay - also for exploring the area further, which we also did. Highly recommend.

"Excellent food with a warm and lasting welcome and"
A wonderful welcome from the owners of the Bird in Hand. The pub itself is quirky in it's upper layout and a real treat to try to work out, this may account to the buildings age as it has been standing since well before the Ironbridge itself. The rooms are comfortably furnished with a 70's early 80's feel, with all you need for a short stay. Meticulously clean throughout with a shower en-suite, tea and coffee, radio TV and beds that are SO comfortable, had it not been for the bedroom window view of the River Severn in the mornings and the promise of a lovely and filling home cooked breakfast served with a hearty felt Good Morning from Steve, it would have been hard to leave the beds amazing comfort. The food at the Bird in Hand is impeccable, the hardest part was deciding what to have from an extensive menu and the daily specials. The portions are generous but just right for a holiday indulgent. Allow for a rest between starter, main and then dessert if you can fit it. If you cannot please rest a while loner with a cask ale or cider until you can fit a pud in, you wont regret it. The family running are accommodating, friendly and go out of their way to assist. This B&B was a rare find in this current days trend for clinical and impersonate hotel B&B trends. It's a establishment that we will be returning to as they have perfected the art of a traditional B&B service.

"A hotel with history and character....."
I have always enjoyed The Lion since my first visit in 1957. It's probably better now than it was more than 50 years ago but the character and integrity remains. I had a 3rd floor room with a wonderful view of Wyle Cop and the Long Mynd on the horizon. If you need swimming pools, Fitness centres, jacuzzis and health spas, this is not for you. Of course the staircase and floorboards creak, and the single lift is ancient and slow but it is 400 years old - well perhaps the lift is a bit younger at 299 years. Breakfasts were perfect with attentive and polite waiting staff and food quality very good. Bedroom, more than adequate and supremely comfortable four poster bed. Well equipped full size bath and shower and endless supply of teas and coffee. I enjoyed it more than ever.

Plenty of towles and soap provided but no extras like shampoo, body lotion, shower caps etc. Overall excellent value for money.
