"Central location"
We stayed at the Lion for the weekend to attend a friend's wedding. The hotel is well located and the room was very clean and comfortable. The food and restaurant were of a good standard. Staff generally were very helpful

"been to better"
We stayed in room 28 and was really dissapointed because although the room was not bad the sun was shining bright but we could not enjoy it as the room was more like a cell enclosed looking on to a roof and surrounded by three walls. The rest of the rooms at the hotel had balcony overlooking gardens and pond which would have been nice.We had no lock at all on the bathroom which would not stay closed tight. Breakfast on the Saturday was chaotic to say the least , staff did not seem to know what they where doing and the food was not the best. We did not bother on sunday to go for breakfast and we decided to stop on the journey home for a breakfast.

"Change of pace from bed and breakfasts"
After staying at small bed and breakfast establishments (although they were nice and we enjoyed them), it was great to be in a large room (with a huge bathroom) on the first floor and be able to have dinner without leaving the premises. Dinner was excellent also. Our stop at the Madeley Court served as a bit of a respite from our hectic motor tour of England (although we only stayed one night).

"We rated the hotel highly, and it was near Shrewsb"
We were very pleased with all aspects of the hotel, and ticked all our boxes. We enjoyed the beautiful location, and the nearness to the Cricket Festival at Shrewsbury School.

"Smart Character Inn in Burlton"
From the moment you check in you get the feel that this is a special character Inn. With friendly helpful staff, a very good menu with great tasting food. The grounds are well kept and the Inn is clearly pet friendly. We enjoyed our stay immensely, and would definitely go back again and again. I booked here as I didn't want to travel all the way to Shropshire to stay in a franchise hotel, and wasn't disappointed.

"Lovely room, fantastic food, noisy wedding party."
The hotel was located in a small, light industrial estate and the setting was very peaceful. The grounds had the potential to be very attractive - a pond / woodland area needed some serious work to bring out the best. The hotel was attractive and nicely laid out, the dining room in particular was light and airy. The food was fantastic and the dining room service was excellent (although the bar was less attentive) - the only thing missing was prepared fruit at breakfast. The room was spacious and comfortable, however the very keen air conditioning did not compensate for only having a small window. The reason for the low overall score was the noise from a wedding party. On checking in I could see that there was a wedding party and asked if we would be bothered by the noise - I was told that we should not be bothered and that rain was due which should keep things quiet ! How wrong this was. The doors between the reception room, the corridor and the (attractive) courtyard, we're all open which meant the noise spilled out, straight up to our room. Although the (extremely loud) disco finished about midnight, the noise carried in for sometime after - including in the corridor. I do not begrudge the wedding party having a great evening but believe that 'normal' guests should not be housed in rooms near / overlooking the festivities - the double glazed windows are just not up to the job. I would stay here again but only if I could be sure that there wasn't a party going on.

"A great fine for a lovely weekend away"
This B&B attached to a lovely restaurant in a very lovely, peaceful and tranquil area. You can unwind in the garden with a complimentary pot of tea on arrival and enjoy the hill side views and tame valley. The food is amazing and chef Ken serves a variety of cuisine that would be hard to beat in a star restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble and Isobel is a great hostess. The stay made a lovely weekend away from the children even better and I would highly recommend either a meal or stay there.
