"Great stay!"
I arrived at 1, even though checkin wasn't until 3 and my room was already ready. The bed was lovely, and it was great to be able to borrow a yoga mat from the hotel. Thanks, Grand Hyatt!

"Very Cool Hotel! Modern!"
I loved this hotel. I don't know why there are bad reviews. People were nice, hallways are clean. The only disappointing thing was the AC, I couldn't control it to get cooler. It only stayed at 70 degrees and my preference is 68 degrees, but whatever.

"Charming Blend of Old and New "
I booked this hotel for a couple reasons. First was the location-it is within walking distance to the Mall, a Metro, and major historic attractions, but not in the thick of things. Secondly, it is a small recently renovated boutique-style hotel, and as I wasn't brining my kids on this trip, I wanted something special. I wasn't disappointed. While most of my trip was spent outside of the hotel, the hours i spent there were wonderful. My corner room had high ceilings (I believe all the rooms do) with tall windows and luxurious drapery. The decor was tasteful but not overdone. The bed was amazing, the pillows more so. The bathroom was tiny and dark, but I'm not one to spend much time in there, so it served my needs. The only complaint I have is there was leak in the ceiling, likely due to the air conditioning, that soaked the floor in front of the bathroom. The last night of my stay, the management moved me to the room next door, which was a bit of an upgrade, decorated tastefully with the historic look the Morrison Clark was originally for. I felt like I'd been transported back in time just one room away! The staff was very pleasant and accommodating, especially the daytime doorman who greeted every day with a smile. I can't comment on the food as I did not eat there at all, but there was a fully stocked mini-fridge in the room if you needed an expensive candy bar or drink or nip! (There's a CVS just steps away if you need things. For the price I paid, it was more than worth it

"No frills but good value"
I didn't have a hair dryer, a mini fridge or a closet but I had a bed, private bathroom and it was clean and secure. The wall paper in my room was peeling and it could definitely do for some remodeling and an upgrade but I spent such little time there it was fine. The free wifi was nice and I had a television but a directory would have been nice. Also, the television would only channel up and not down but that is a minor inconvenience.

"Downtown and close to the attractions but noisy"
The hotel and facilities were nice and close to everything imaginable but there was way too much hallway noise. There was a Summit going on while we were there and there were a LOT of teenagers that caused a LOT of hallway noise very very late into the night. Several of them knocked on our door (which had a do-not-disturbe sign on it) I was there on business and my family came along to sight see but the noise made sleeping very difficult which made for a very long meeting the following day.

Pocket Guide: Washington Downtown Washington D.C. 3 stars Hotels

Downtown DC is awash with culture. The Smithsonian Institution museum complex flanks the National Mall. The Washington Monument bisects the Mall, just south of the White House. Federal agency headquarters house bureaucrats of varying stripes. Moneyed and powerful lobbyists help create (and quash) laws from K Street. Chinatown and the Washington Convention Center lie east of downtown.
