Tyrol's oldest town, also known as Brixen, is filled with pastel-colored houses along narrow cobblestone streets. The tree-lined Piazza Duomo stands at the center of town, adjacent to a 13th-century cathedral, which is adorned with frescoes. At the adjoining Piazza Vescovile, the 13th-century Bishop's Palace houses the Museo Diocesano known for its impressive collection of nativity scenes.
