"Nice for a 3 star hotel"
The hotel was good even though I only stayed for one night. The room wasn't the cleanest but it exceeded my expectations for a 3 star hotel. The restaurant is whatever, a little pricy for what it is, but what restaurant isn't pricy in Aruba? Dont expect to be treated like royalty, but the staff was very courteous and helpful. If you are on a budget I would recommend this hotel cause it's in walking distance to the center (even thought that really depends on what you consider walking distance) Overall, I enjoyed my night there.

The staff was extremely helpful. We enjoyed eating at the Kitchen Table. It was a worthwhile experience. The massage and facial were wonderful! Beaches are public so you can use them anywhere. Condo's beach is a little rocky but walk a block and beach is beautiful.

"Work in progress."
Aruba is like a second home to me. I always feel relaxed and safe, this time was no different. The hotel portion of La Cabana was sold to Tropicana several years ago, the timeshare portion (closest to the beach) is still called La Cabana. They are just starting now to renovate, so the room I stayed in still had the old finishes. Yes, the kitchen cabinets need to be totally refaced and the blue counter-top and bathtub are dated, but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Also, the room does have that "island smell" at first, so keep the doors closed and the A/C and the fans on all the time. It only gets worse if you try to "air" out the room - trust me. I was only there for a long weekend, so I didn't spend much time in the room. What I care about is the beach and the pool, neither of those ever disappoint me. I don't need a 5-star hotel. For me, for the price, it was perfect. I have been going to La Cabana (now Tropicana) for over 10 years and love it for many reasons, but mostly because of the large beach area and not feeling like I was on top of the person next to me. I was happy to see that they are starting to renovate the rooms, they have one half of one of the three buildings completely gutted. I could also see different paint samples they painted on the exterior building and new lighting. Looking go, so far! I hope the next time I go to Aruba, I'll get to stay in a newly remodeled room!
