"Perfect location and hotel!"
First I booked for one night as I wasn't sure what to expect, but ended up staying my 4 nights! Rooms with 2 beds are very spacious, one bed no so much but if u are not planning to stay at room during the day it's perfect to sleep and rest and with enough space for our two suitcases! Breakfast is included with veggie option available! Staff very friendly and polite as all japanese, they only speak a little English but u don't really need more. WILL TOTALLY RECOMEND IT! very good location if u coming from Narita and 5 min walking from ueno jr station to hotel! If coming from Narita ks line maybe 8 or 10 min! Good comunication with metro to go everywhere and within walking distance of commercial area, restaurants, shops and sightseeing,

"Best business hotel"
Very nice staff; all staff are hospitality, they help me a lot when I ask or request anything such as the way to go to starbuck at ueno, how to go to narita airport in difference ways. When I buy food from superket I can borrow bowl or dish from them High speed internet; I can use wi-fi in my room without any problem, the hotel also offer LAN Various facilities; Unbelievable, there are microwave, electronic stove and kettle in my room they offer these things beyond business hotel Not far from the station; just 5 mins walk Important thing is the price is not expensive in a good location you can go to ueno or asakusa just next station. Although no housekeeper clean in the room during you stay, You can request the new things that you want from the staff. Overall I think this hotel is very excellent.

"Oak Hotel, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! 1st time in Tokyo!"
This was such a great little hotel, for the price that I paid. A slight step up from a hostel, with a tiny room (12hx8w), and an even tinier bathroom. But it is YOUR OWN room and bathroom. That's what you're paying for, otherwise, go and save $20 by looking at an actual hostel. I stayed between Feb 10-14th, 2015. The most important things to know: I NEVER ran out of hot water, and the heating/air worked perfectly. We had a mini fridge in the room, and the electric outlets in the room worked for American devices (I took my own adapters, didn't need them at all)! The bedding was clean, the room was quiet, and the front desk staff were helpful in every way. Our room was cleaned daily, and absolutely none of my things were touched during that time, as I left most of my things in the room as I went exploring throughout the day (very trustworthy cleaning staff, in my opinion). That being said, the clothes washer/dryer was broken during my stay (that was an inconvenience, though a laundry mat is down the street), and the front desk was closed between 1am-6am (so don't forget to have your room key with you and keep it away from other electronic devices and cards) Basically, it was a very comfortable stay! I spent all my time in the city, and only need a comfortable place to sleep, and shower, and I received just that! If you want to SAVE yourself some money, and forgo the expensive "Americanized" style hotel, stay at this location.

"Hôtel agréable, quartier Ueno, proche métro"
Hotel qui m'avait été conseillé. Bon rapport qualité prix. Ce n'est pas un Ryokan, hôtel traditionnel, mais plutôt un hôtel standard pour gens de passages.

"Low key cozy hotel"
Well starting off this hotel is sort of hidden. We used google maps and still had trouble locating this hotel. We managed to spot it's subtle sign and discovered the main entrance on the second floor. The hotel staff was nice and spoke very decent English so we didn't have any trouble. The hotel is traditional Japanese style so you have to take your shoes off at the entrance and put them in a locker. The room was small but did it's perhaps since we are there to see Japan and not the room. The beds were very comfortable considering you sleep on the floor. It was cozy and look sort of like a family business if I were to guess which gives it a homey feel. There was only one bath for each gender and you had to wash yourself the traditional Japanese way which is wash outside the bath and then get in the bath. It was an interesting experience. Overall I recommend this hotel for a good price and being close to things in the main part of the city.

"The listed room size is inaccurate"
The rooms are listed as being for two people, but there's no way two people can fit comfortably in one of these rooms. (As far as I can tell all of the rooms are the same size.)

"Perfect stay close to everything"
Oak Zen is well located, very comfortable and staff is super nice! I was here for 5 nights but I'd surely come back again. The rooms are big and even in dormitory you can have your privacy with the curtains and your own locker. Highly recommand!

Pocket Guide: Tokyo Ueno 2 stars Hotels

This area offers a glimpse of what life was like before the economic boom of the 1970s and 1980s. Neighboring Asakusa, it is best known for the Ameya-yokocho Arcade, a busy market with interesting stalls. Ueno-koen, a sprawling park with monuments, zoo, pagodas, and a pond, is a must-do. Museums and galleries abound in the area.
